it's a consumer device. the consumer market has proven that they like more and more interations. i agree with you, from an enterprise customer standpoint, but it's all about demand and RIM has changed up their deployment tactics. we asked for change and they gave us change, sort of

Well we will be getting new comps here so I might be able to get captures off my phone and not off the computer to obvious. Of course I got to ask permission trying not to get in trouble. So hopefully within next week I should have them. The GPS would work but telenav software isn't compatible since its not out on the market they don't have software to work with it which sucks.

Here it is:

WiFi equipped BlackBerry 8820 about to hit the streets - Engadget Mobile

I realize this is not the Curve but I think this is what all the hoop-lah is all about.

Since you're a baseball fan I'll put it this way:
Swing and a miss

This is supposedly some unreleased device that the OP can't seem to confirm.

Only because he's probably making it up. I have no idea why adults on the internet do stuff like this.

Me making it up lol. I saw that 8820 way before anybody on engadget or bg heard of it. I left a comment on the first post on engadget about 8820 when they first posted about it. It's not like I can just take the phone from this guy and take pics of it. It's not as easy as you think especially where I work.

it seems to me that making a million 8300's with wifi, gps, and camera would be more cost effective than making 300k of the wifi model and 300k of gps model etc...and no OS variations needed for diff in feature set.

so your most loyal customers suffer the most constantly upgrading

keep costs down and offer the most features...if someone doesnt need gps they can hide the icon and not use it

The Curve is very cheap to make w/o the Wi-Fi or GPS, therefore it will be very cheap for those who want a new device. I'm sure there will be a pretty steep increase in price for the Wi-Fi and GPS-enabled devices, as that little bit of extra hardware will cost a bit more money (and thus they can charge a bit more).

By the way, if all that is being argued is the existence of the 8310 - not that I haven't mentioned it a bit myself already - but here's some proof in the form of browser agent information

BlackBerry8310/4.3.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1

Prior to last week, I only had reports of OS 4.2.2 and 4.3.0 for the device, so I will say this is the first I've seen of OS 4.3.1. The platform (radio, bluetooth, etc) is version 2.7.0.

People have asked for more refreshes to the BB line-up more often. RIM has provided that. WE got what we asked for. (it really is far better than the old days)

Wow ... for years BB users have complained about lack of choices and infrequent updates to hardware. Now that they give us what we want, we complain that too many choices is a bad thing.

i agree, choices are good (i dont like the pearl but i like the curve)

why dont they launch the series variations all at the same time?

dont give me the base model 8300 first with no choice and then release the semi-loaded model and finally the fully loaded model.

iphone- 4gb or 8gb... thats a proper release

I would rather them not put a finished product on hold for several months just because the other products are still in development so they could release at the same time. lol

Ugg - you guys are killing me. Was about to pull the trigger on a new curve...but now think I should wait. Small form factor BB + Camera + GPS is my killer combo.

I'm still not sure what the real hoopla about WiFi BB is about. Besides being able to instant message faster (which isn't a huge problem via EDGE anyway), what do you really get? I don't browse internet pages on my BB b/c its so freakin annoying. The webpages i do check out are optimized for bb browsing (mostly text), so EDGE works fine. Am I missing something?
