Default Bb 8830 We - Vzw - USB Car Stereo use

Please Login to Remove!

I have a blackberry 8830 that I use on Verizon. I originally used the 4.2 os and I have a memory card in it that I hold a lot of songs on. I have never had a problem hooking up my 8830 to my car via usb UNTIL I upgraded to the 4.5 os. I have tried three different versions of the 4.5 os and none of them let me hook up my 8830 to my car and listen to the songs.

I have the setting setup as follows:
Media Card Support: On
Encryption Mode: None
Mass Storage Mode Support: On
Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode When Connected: Yes

Total Space: 7.5GB
Free Space: 4.3GB

Current OS 4.5.0.135

I have seen other people with the same exact problem but no solutions that I am aware of...

Anybody know how to fix?

Thank you

I don't think that I've ever tried to use my 8830 with my car stereo. Maybe I will get a chance later today if I've got the proper cords.

What happens when you try?

I know that I had problems with my mp3 files on my 8gig card when I upgraded to OS 4.5 - the BB would lock up entirely. I had to delete a series of BBthumbnail.dat files from the mp3 folders - I gather the newer os could not "read" those DAT files which are probably some form of index.

Just an fyi - now that vzw released their os upgrade to 4.5 I called support and they said that they do not support the 8830 being used as mass storage other than connected to a pc...

so they advised to downgrade to 4.2...

try this: BlackBerry® Music Gateway You can get it at rim.com or BEST Buy.......At last, a music experience that lets you wirelessly play your music on your BlackBerry® smartphone through your home stereo, car stereo or portable stereo system using the BlackBerry® Music Gateway. It's simple. All you have to do is plug the BlackBerry Music Gateway into your stereo system, pair your BlackBerry smartphone, and it's ready to fill any room with your music. So go ahead and throw a party, you're the DJ and your BlackBerry smartphone is the remote control.
US $89.99

I got the Stereo Gateway.. It's pretty nifty I had it in my car for while, but I like it hooked up to my stereo system in home besides it might just be me, but I noticed a difference when playing the music via BT compared to directly plugged in.. Don't get me wrong though it is a good device. 89.99 is a bit expensive I would shop around a bit more.
