Smile Has anyone gotten LDAP lookups to work off non-windows LDAP server?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,
BES 4.14, Exchange.

From reading RIM's KBs on changing the lookup to use LDAP queries they don't specify that it's intended to work only with a Domain Controller with Global Catalog. But I believe this is what they intended.

I attempted to point the LDAP lookup queries to 3 other LDAP servers in our company, from Domino, to a Netscape product etc, and all queries return nothing. I point it back to a DC, and it returns something.

Has anyone gotten LDAP to work off something OTHER than a Domain Controller?

Thanks,

no doubt because the directories you are searching do not contain the correct schema or attributes that BES is asking for.

Default ?

If I do a lookup of 'John Doe', to a non-windows LDAP server, i expected it to return something.

I guess I'm assuming that the LDAP standard has a set of attributes that are expected to be the same across all flavors of LDAP servers. Too much to assume?

I mean, wouldn't there be a generic attribute for the primary email address, and probably others like telephone etc? I expected the lookup to simply fetch was was available under the given lookup criteria.
