Lots of SRP "Mini" Disconnects after 4.1 Upgrade
Please Login to Remove!
Hi. Has anyone seen an influx of 50096/50097 SRP disconnect events after upgrading to 4.1.x? We recently upgraded to 4.1.3, and for some reason 1 BES out of 5 shows a lot of these info events:
Event Type: Information
Event Source: BlackBerry Dispatcher xxxxxxxx
Event Category: None
Event ID: 50097
Date: 8/7/2007
Time: 9:37:57 AM
User: N/A
Computer: xxxxxxxx
Description:
[SRP] Dispatcher\SRP Connection dropped, Error=0
Before the 4.1 upgrade I asked RIM if there were any new events with 4.1, and they said no. Then these 50096/50097 events started appearing (never saw them with 4.0.6), and RIM admitted "OK, yeah I guess those events are new". They also said that these events are nothing to worry about, but I'm still wondering why we're only seeing these events on one of five BES.

Yes!
Yes, i have those entries.
From time to time, some of my users are experiencing when they send an email from their berry, it sends sucessfully but after 1 or 2 minutes they get a red X.
I'm trying to figure out if these two issues are related?
I called RIM support, and they had me to a ping to the srp host name. it dropped once out of hundreds of pings. they said nothing is wrong on their end and to ensure the network path is optimal like full duplex on server nic and switch, stable internet connection. We are a professional shop here, everything is tip top and I had the network guy investigate, it's as good as it can be and super fast highly reliable.
It just happened again to me (5pm 10/3/2007), so i began searching on here and other places, but i already have in the past.
It's very frustrating to have this happen every few weeks.
My temporary fix is to stop and start the bes services.
If anyone out there has any info i would appreciate it.
BES 4.1.4 Exch 2003 SP3 , 150 users.

morser - Exch 2003 SP3?
Do you see anything in the logs around the time that these people have these problems sending? For 150 users it sounds like something is wrong.

You're only seeing it on one as its the only one with a problem ... make sure all network / dns /everything settings are as identical as possible between the servers. Different subnet? What is different between your servers?

I had the same problem - it took some detective work, but I finally realized that I had two BES servers (and old one were going to migrate from, and a new one we had just built) that seemed to be "fighting" for a connection to Blackberry. Although I have not had a chance to go deep, my guess is that each BB server needs to have it's own unique public IP address and not share a NAT or PAT address. Once I killed off the old server and migrated the users to the new one, the SRP messages stopped, and the users were no longer getting the red X marks - before it would take three to four attempts to send a message successfully.
Hope that is helpful.

This issue was resolved for me when i switched from using an onboard Nvidea NIC to an Intel NIC. our server had 4 onboard NICS. I also verified that the firewall wasn't interfering with communications, but ultimately it was the brand/driver of the Nvidea NIC. I guess this shows it could be anything...
