Agreed... and I do believe he's done that as a result of my tirade.

Olly, I personally am fine with you posting them here, I would love it, just cite (or links to) what places they came from as best you can (good effort) and go on. If there are any that you know are purchased or copyrighted or the author has asked users to not post elsewhere, don't

Otherwise, have at it... have fun.

Draw a good one of Penguin in a tirade, and that might be a real hit!

It's all good!

Just because "he" got permission from the original creator to edit and redistribute their content... that doesn't inherently give you permission to do the same.

Go to those authors, ask their permission, and do what they allow you to.

Whether or not anyone is "making a profit" off the content has absolutely nothing to do with it.
If you don't get permission to use an artists work, you're stealing it. Plain and simple.

It's irresponsible and unfair to the creator of the work if you don't properly credit them or get their permission to use/distribute their content. Is that so hard to understand?
Someone got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. Listen, I'm not talking about altering the artwork. Only croping it so certain screen resolutions can see them. And I'm not calling it my own and if it's hosted olly's site, then the credit is given where it's necessary. You are taking it way more personally than you should.

To put it simply, I like the guys artwork and would like to use it on my device. Screen size is different so I have to resize it. If someone else could benifite from this, I don't see what the problem is. There's no plagiarism taking place. If you want to argue:

Quote:
transitive verb
: to steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one's own : use (another's production) without crediting the source
intransitive verb
: to commit literary theft : present as new and original an idea or product derived from an existing source
From: plagiarizing - Definition from the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary

I don't want to argue with you, so let's all get along

Penguin's avatar already looks like he is in a tirade.

Cropping = Altering
The right thing to do would be to ask the author if they'd allow you to make such changes to their work, in addition to getting their permission to make changes and redistribute.
This isn't rocket science.

Permission was supposedly given given to olly... not you.

I'm not taking this personally at all. I'm merely taking an opposing position than you. It's not my work that's involved here.

How do you know? You never got permission from the creator of the work, and up until a few minutes ago, you didn't even know who the creator was.

My points are very simple.
If you choose to modify someone else's work... get their permission first.
If you choose to distribute someone else's work... get their permission first, and credit them.

Hahaha I'll do my best to find something - and cite all the details.

Can a moderator close this thread before it gets any uglier? I think everything has been said already, and we should leave it at that.
