Yep, if all ur downloading from bittorrent are movies an music then viruses are't a threat, just chedk the file extension.

As far as warez go if u are using a good tracker (demonoid and eztv are the only ones I use).you are pretty safe. But its a good practice to read the comments and do a good av scan anywaye.

I once got a bad virus from the pirate bay once while downloading a copy of network magic the wreck my whole os. So I'd avoid using them.

Wrong. I've seen people get viruses from torrent files. Not from the BitTorrent software itself, but the files they download. It's a known fact among internet security circles that there are viruses and malware in torrents. I could show you posts on malware removal help forums where people have gotten infected this way. If you don't think so, you are not in reality.

Wrong again. I have plenty of evidence to the contrary. Also there are viruses that use fake file extensions, like naming something .mp3 or MPEG4 when it's really an executable file, a .exe. Happens all the time.
