Post Upgrading from BES v4 to BES v5 Express?

Please Login to Remove!

I am pretty new to this so hopefully I am asking the right question.

My company is in the process of upgrading from BES v4 to BES Express v5. We will be installing the new BES on a newer server. Couple questions:

1. In reference to transferring users, is it a smoother transition to install BES v4 on the new server, transfer our users and then upgrade to Express or will it even matter?

2. Does the express version come with High Availability for fail over solution or just the Enterprise Version?

I want to minimize downtime at all costs

Sorry for the newbie questions.

Thanks in advance.

No HA built in, but you can setup 2 BES express servers and move users over to the working one when sharing a common database.

Read up on your upgrade options.

Did people who migrated just copy the CAL's over? If were running both servers in parrallel (migration kit) can I have the same CAL's setup on both environments. I did add one set of CAL's to the 5.0 server just so it didn't complain and it seems to be working fine. Thanks

BES Express 5 comes with 10000 aka 10k CALs.
only 75 can be used when BES express 5 is installed on exchange.
only 2k can be used max per dedicated server.
