Default YAY, Got my Storm, BUT WAIT

Please Login to Remove!

So, switched my device from my old BB, to the Storm. Now, none of my third party apps are visible ANYWEHRE, even though DM shows them installed. Also, I continue to get "uncaught exception" errors. Not sure if that is from my third party apps, or something else.

Anyone know what the heck SMSWakeUp is?

Thanks,
Michael

They might be incompatible with OS 4.7 right now.

I intially had the same issue but tried installing it again and it works. The 3rd party apps are located in the application folder. Once in the folder you need to scroll up. I found this by accident while on hold with Verizon trying to figure out what happened with all the apps I installed.

Alright, I guess I will try and OTA install them, and see if that helps.

Thanks,
Michael

If I'm not mistaken, SMSWakeUp is a program that will enable the Storm to grab new versions of installed software (such as VZNavigator and Virtual Voice Mail) when they are rolled out. Basically, the provider sends an "invisible" SMS to the phone telling it to go update the software.

I think it's the same approach that was used on the Motorola Q when it was first introduced (before Exchange ActiveSync was available). A new message would hit your Exchange server, trigger an invisible SMS to your phone telling it to initiate synchronization, and you would then get the message. Now that I'm a Blackberry convert, it seems like a pretty inelegant solution to me.
