Default That did work!

Thanks a lot guys,

The delete application/servicebook/restart/re-register does work, and forces an OTA for the IM app. (Sometimes u may have to register with the network multiple times)

thanks Greg and all those who replied.

Now on to the DM connectivity problem....

thanks again

I can get the client online, but half my buddies are missing, on my pc I see 12 people online, and on the 7100 I only see 4 of them... any ideas?

On my computer, I have my buddy list divided into: Family/friends/work/etc/etc

the IM client only pulled from the very first group (family) and all of the rest of them are missing. I'm guessing what I'll have to do is create a "mobile" list and put that at the very top and see if it draws from that buddy group.

So the T-Mo IM client is the only option at this point for 7100 users? One big thing it lacks is a timestamp - I just noticed I received a few IMs, and I haven't a clue when I got them.

Also, will setting Options->SMS->Network to Send Over to "GPRS" instead of "GSM" effectively give free unlimited SMS?

I am having the same problem noted above (IM does not work and each option defaults to AOL IM). I can figure out how to do steps 1-3 below, but do not know what is meant by step 4 or how to do it:

1. Delete IM Application
2. Delete IM Service book
3. Reboot Device
4. Resent Internet Service book (from web client)

I have no idea what OTA means.

Sorry for being so slow, but I have upgraded from the dark ages (BB 957) and am not yet familiar with how some of the new BB features operate.

Thanks for any help.

Default hello JoeT

1. I didnot have to do step four.
but that just means log-in to the tmo-bb website and they have options to check email and somewhere hidden there is the option to resend the service book.

2.OTA = over the air. it means the ability to update/dowload apps "ota" to the device directly.

3. Can you try an different "Host". go to device settings and "host routing table" . click on some random host and click scroll-wheel and "register now". Wait for the device to register. and the deleted apps must have been downloaded.

see if that helps.
