Ahhh yes, I rember when I first got my Curve with 4.2. It was such a teeny little baby. Now *tear sniff* its about to be all grown up with 5.0. Its been such a joy to watch. Oh now we had our moments with 4.3, and 4.5, you know how teenagers are, but now its time to watch our curves spread their wing and fly!

The Tour just came for godsakes. Why would it need an updated OS? This isn't a freaking Storm! Honestly if I were a carrier's CS rep I'd be off the day they release an new OS. You'll get hammered with calls from Bozos who screw it up, can't find their apps, don't look in folders, never backed up anything. It must be a nightmare. I recently updated my Tmob OS for the 8900 and it was a waste of time. Nothing's different or better or faster than the original imo.
There's a couple of reasons why you would get a new release of software relatively quickly after its release, firstly the carrier won't consider every bug to be worth delaying the launch of a new product and thus they could be pushed back until this secondary release and also the amount of people using the hardware will expand hugely once it has launched and there is always the chance that some particular combination of conditions will cause a problem that wasn't found during testing.
If you aren't seeing the problems a carrier wanted fixed then you wouldn't see any benefit from an interim update like this since its going to be aimed at bug fixes and not improvements, for current devices, the next new software with new or upgraded features won't be until 5.0 shows up for their hardware.
