Default Moving BES Users

Please Login to Remove!

please forgive the total n00bness of this question, but....

I currently have one BES (running 4.1.6.19 for exchange), i installed BES 5.0 on a different server, and now i can't figure out how to "move" users from one location to the other. I only want to do 2-3 users at first to test before we move everyone.

I started by deleting myself from the current (4.1) bes, and then tried adding myself to the new 5.0 bes, but when i go to activate my handheld (on the device from enterprise activation) - i get an error message stating activation failed.

KB18692 - How to migrate users to BES 5.0 using BlackBerry Enterprise transporter - Port3101.org : Your BES Connection

(Also, your activation is failing because you need to wipe the handheld before activating on a new BES.)

ok, next stupid question - i just discovered that our current bes4.1 is using a local db, its not on our DB Server (which i setup the bes 5.0 box to use) - how can i use transporter for that?

It doesn't make a difference where your database is.

ok, so i'm just a dumbass then.

i try to setup the source to the old bes and it tells me the login fails, even though i'm using the same network credentials. so happy that my company believes is training people that have to support stuff

i deleted my account from bes 4.1, wiped the device, and activated on BES 5.0 - everything is working except any customizing that i did to the device prior. if i can get transporter to work, will that allow me to save device custom settings? (sound profile, wallpaper, ect)

Yes.
No device wipe would be required if using Transporter.

so i finally woke up and was able to get the transporter tool configured, but when attempting to move one user i get the following error:

(12/17 10:02:28) {user@users.com} Data migration failed, TransId=2

Edit:

attempted to move another user to ensure it wasn't just a profile issue - both users fail with the same message

This message appears when the BlackBerry® Enterprise Transporter cannot add the data for the user account to the destination
BlackBerry Configuration Database.
Possible solution
Try performing the following actions:
xxx8226; Check the log file for the BlackBerry Enterprise Transporter for the error details.
xxx8226; Verify that the destination BlackBerry Configuration Database is online.
xxx8226; Verify that you have the required permissions to insert records into the destination BlackBerry Configuration Database.

cool, thanks, i'll try the last b/c thats what i suspect it is after reading this list.

where did you find this info, i looked on bb's website, and all over google, but found nothing

still not working (same error) - i have a case opened with Tsupport

i dont need to delete the user off the old bes first do i?
