Default 8900 Curve syncing witth Outlook 2003

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

Thinking of getting an 8900 Curve.

We use Microsoft Outlook 2003 as our diary/contact phone no's on our PC and have been told that the Curve will sync its diary etc. with Outlook.

Does anyone have experience of this and confirm that it does it OK?

Also can Word & Excel files be downloaded to it.

My old SPV phone allowed these operations.

Thanks.

Wirelessly posted (Its All About the U!)

Are you using BES or BIS?

Being the UK has no bearing.

Does your firm have a corporate BB Enterprise Server (BES) or do you use the BB Internet Server (a.k.a. personal) data pan (BIS)?

BES allows over the air sync of contacts, calendar and email.

BIS allows for emial to be pushed to your device automatically about every 15 minutes and then you sync contacts and calendar with a USB connection and BB Desktop Manager (DM).

As for Word and Excel, if you have OS 4.5 and higher, you can edit using Documents-to-Go.

Please do a search first next time. All of this is answered in the FAQ or in the forums.

I also sync my 8900 w/ Outlook 2003 w/o any problems.

But...I do miss the simplicity of the Palm desktop software I had previously.

To re-cap,..
I miss the Palm Desktop software (still useful but can't sync with the 8900).
I don't miss the Palm Centro.
I like the BB 8900.
I'm adjusting to syncing the 8900 w/ Outlook.
