My mom has an 8900 and since she bought it, has not been able to compose MMS. She can go into her pictures and select send in MMS, but cannot go into messages and select compose MMS. If she does nothing happens. My 8900 has no problems doing it. Tried updating the device software from .109 to .176 and it says complete, but does not show .176 on the device. I have not tried updating on my 8900 yet, but I do know hers did not work. They guy at the store said something about updating the software but he just gave her the work around by going into her media and selecting send as MMS. Which is fine, but she wants it to work properly.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Here is a screen shot from the messages folder.... after clicking compose MMS the menu goes away and nothing happens.


Then the next 3 screen shots you can see that it works if you go into the media folder and select the picture.

I usually do the send as mms from the media section. Buy my other way works too. I would upgrade the os. If it doesn't show that the new os is on the device then it didn't work. Upgrade the device and make sure you did it the correct way. Becuase it sounds like a software problem.
Did you also try a battery pull and see if that works to fix the problem

spent 45 min on the phone with rim. Still could not upgrade OS. but did get it working.

Send 2 MMS with a 1 in front of your number to yourself. You should receive the 2nd MMS, thus activating the MMS function.
