Default Do you need to stop services before db backup?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi there, my BES server is running MSDE.

1) If I want to do a backup of the BES database using OSQL, do I first need to stop all BES services?

2) I'm trying to use blackberrydbbackup.exe from the BES tools, but it keeps on saying that my my login failed. The MSDE is set to use windows (trusted authentication. I tried these switches, -U Domain\beserviceaccount -P <password> and -U beserviceaccount@domain -P <password>

No luck. Can someone shed me some lights?

Thanks

Guys,

So do you need to stop the services before you back up the database?

There is no need to stop the services before you can backup the database. A backup can be done with the BES running. While the database is getting backed up there is a chance that you might see some slow response from the database (depending on size of the db) but most DB's are under a gig, and dont take long to backup so you should be fine. (I do it all the time in my prod env).
