Locked BB....Wireless Off
Please Login to Remove!
Well, one of our resident rocket scientists didn't use their device for over a month, and let the battery drain.
The user forgot their password, and used up all of their pw guesses, to the point where we're at 'Enter blackberry to continue'
RIM claims our only option is to wipe/reactivate.
I don't believe them.

Which model device is it? With 7280/7290/8700, you can initiate an emergency call. As soon as the call starts, you'll see the antennae turn on. Immediately stop the call so it doesnt completely go through. Once wireless is on, you can send a wireless password reset from the BES.

they're just protecting their hides. They don't want to tell you to start an emergency call in case you are the idiot that lets it go through and then blames RIM for telling you to do it when you get in trouble. Or perhaps I have lived in sue happy america for too long and have become cynical Anyway, congrats on getting it unlocked!

Sorry to post in an old thread, but where is this setting? I've searched and I can't seem to find wireless password reset anywhere.

Just out of curiosity, does this trick only work on 7280/7290/8700?
If so, any tricks for doing this on the newer devices. Nice thing to know incase it ever happens.

That's a great tip! On the other hand, if the user and IT Policy has the Allow Outgoing Calls While Locked option enabled they can click on Place Call without having to worry about potentially bothering the Emergency Call people.

That's a great idea! I never thought of that - I think that would be a valuable change to make in case this problem does arise.

It's not that simple. BES is an elaborate server system which manages many Blackberry devices for corporations. It integrates with email servers like Exchange.
If you don't know your password you are out of luck, my friend.

Actually, I know what my password is, but before the blackberry locked, the language changed by error to Greek. Now when I type my password, it's Greek, not english.. password not accepted.
grrrrrrrrrrrrrr
There's no other way to get it ? or reset ?
