Default VMWare Fusion and Desktop Manager

Please Login to Remove!

I am seriously considering a change to a Mac and I am trying to ensure that I will not have any obstacles that I cannot overcome. One major concern is Desktop Manager which I use to update my BB OS on a regular basis, and to delete unwanted themes, install BB Maps, etc. I have had to modify the .alx files and delete certain theme files to get the BB installed the way I want it, all as detailed in these forums. I do not want to lose this ability. I am on a BES. I also expect that I will install Outlook under the Windows installation. Now for the questions:

(1) If I install VM Ware Fusion and XP Pro, will Desktop Manager then function under the Windows installation as I have grown accustomed to?
(2) Will my BB connect and be found normally?
(3) Will Desktop Manager connect to the Messaging System properly if Outlook is running, as it does on a PC?

In short, will everything operate the same way under Fusion/Windows on a Mac as it currently does on my PC?

Thanks.

With both Parallels Desktop and VMWare fusion I get Kernel Panics trying to update (restore or upgrade) the OS on my Pearl.

There are many people that cannot sync either under virtualization.

I have a BB 8820 & 8310 and I use VMware Fusion with XP Home. I have DM 4.3 and installed both of the Device OS updates to both of my BB's. I have no issues with running DM installing apps, managing themes etc. I have been backing up my BB's weekly wit the DM app.

In short I sync contacts, calendar and apps (flexwallet) just as if I was on a non VM windows machine.

I wonder why I get KP's then? What version of OS X are you running?

The VMWare forums have posts about kernel panics with fusion and DM as well.. so I'm not alone here.

From what I have read on VMWARE forums and other places, the kernal panics are restricted to the 8100 series, its a bug within the MAC OS causing the issues. I have updated software on my 8300 and my 8830 with Fusion with no issues.

I have read up on the VMware forums and the MarkSpace (Missing Sync) forums and a lot of the issues seem to be with the Pearl (81xx) series. That combined with a keypad I could not use is what kept me with the 8820 and 8310.
