i've got the 8310 (i use it on tmo's network), about to download the latest DM (v4.5) from RIM's web site (still using 4.3.0.17).

so is 4.5.0.52 running stable for the most part ? i'm still using 4.2.2.194 on mine and i want to switch to get the added video camera feature as well as what else has been updated...

although the changes are refreshing...it's still got the same menu system....guess i was expecting something dramatic with this OS since it's going to be on the bold....perhaps another generation needs to pass for things to get totally revamped.

does anyone know if music playback on this OS is seamless (gapless) ?

Anyone else noticed a problem with the message indicator LED? Usually it works fine, but about once a day I find it gets 'stuck' on. The flashing red light won't stop, even if I read one of my unread messages.

The only way I've found so far of stopping it is a battery pull.

I'm currently trying to fathom whether this happens on all of my profiles, or just one of them.

Thanks,

P.

Paul, you profile says you have the 8300. Did you load the 8310 OS to your 8300, or profile just not up to date?

I have not noticed an LED issue with my upgrade, but this .37 OS has many bugs...

I've actually got a whole drawer full of BlackBerrys here, but I'm currently using an 8310.

So please ignore the profile!

Wirelessly posted (8310 Curve)

So far so good my battery had been lasting longer. I turned off Location aiding and my battery has hardly drained.
The only thing is if I check spelling in a post reply, I then need to use view mode to move out of box to press post reply tab. Still the 4.5.0.46 is much better

Just downloaded to ATT Curve 8310 with no problems. BES & BIS setup went through without any issues.

I have never upgraded a phone before. I am not really sure how it works. I was wondering why some people are waiting to upgrade and others don't? Is this an offical release? What is better for me to do?

I assume you're presently on 4.2.xx. The latest official release is v4.5.0.37 which gives you a neater interface, video and voice recording, but it still has a few issues. Versions later than .37 are beta which you have to hunt around for, plus you can see from this thread that some people are still having problems.

If you're unsure I'd recommend sticking with your present OS until there's a later official release of v4.5 - you shouldn't have long to wait, but check back here for the chorus of approval before downloading.

Hope this helps.

While updating to the new 4.5 OS, i think that i have bricked my phone. Now my BB wont connect to the desktop manager and displays an all white screen with a black horizontal line across it. Pressing the Alt and Shift keys will display their respective icon on the top right corner of the screen. Pressing the BB menu will display a small black dot on the bottom left corner of the screen. Nothing else comes up. Trackball moves the black horizontal line a few inches upa and down only. During the update, i think that my BB timed out and password locked itself. The DM displayed something like "the multi something was not able to proceed". Can anyone help? How do i restore to original OS?

Never seen that screen before. Have you tried JL_Cmder?

Thank you for your reply. I will look into it and let you know of the results.

EDIT: Tried the JL Cmder and was able to load 4.5 OS. Thanks so much for the help. It is crucial to establish connection from Jl Cmder to the BB ROM. Once that is established the install should be a success. All prior install errors did not have this link establised which is difficult because JL Cmder did not or could not locate BB USB. Just keep trying until you get "Connect to Device ROM".

Before you wipe try re installing the 4.5 again.

You had the vendor XML removed and did it make it through the first initialization
