Question BES co-existence during an Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007 migration

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All,

I'm migrating our Exchange environment from 2003 to 2007 & am really confused about what I need to do with BES 4.1 in this process! I have the 2007 servers configured & running in the same domain as the 2003 servers & I have successfully moved some test users from 2003 to 2007 (success in terms of sending/receiving email through Outlook). I have now migrated my user account from 2003 to 2007 & am having issues with my BlackBerry as it isnt reconciling fully & Im not receiving all of my Emails on the device. I have followed the steps outlined in KB12483 but am still having issues.
I have read about removing Exchange 2003 System Manager from BES & installing the MAPI & CDO clients on BES but it seems that this is done after all the users have been migrated, is this the case? I cant move all users in one go so need to run BES/Exch2003/Exch2007 together, has anyone done this? If so could you please advise how you did this as Im a little lost here!!
Thanks
Andrew

People have done this alot. Best practice is to make sure the CDO version on BES matches exchange 2007. CDO 1.2.1 is backwards compatable to 2003.

Thanks for the response Knottyrope. On BES the CDO is in c:\program files\exchcrvr\bin & is 1.21 (Version 6.5.7651.61). There is no CDO on the Exchange 2007 server. Is this correct? As I do more research I become more & more confused as there seems to be conflicting ideas about what I need to do, some websites are saying that I need to remove Exchange 2003 System Tools from BES yet some are saying that doing so will result in the 2003 users not being able to use their RIM devices! Any ideas?
