I would say slim to none. But here's to hoping. I'll be happy if it comes out in June.

umm i'm pretty sure they arent going to change the colours like that... between the AT&T curve and the tmobile curve and the rogers curve... nothing is different besides the branding... i doubt they are going to start with the BOLD

the pearl is an entirely different device... its a purely consumer device... the different colours attract different consumers...

Apple is not going to let AT&T announce the iP2 dates, Jobs will announce the dates and its pretty much in the bag that he will do so at WWDC. By the way WWDC is sold out (as I heard) for the first time in advance of the show. Clearly the developers are expecting some pretty hot news that week.

As for the BB Bold's release date, I have a friend who works for AT&T as an Account Executive for large accounts. He finished told me he had a conference call with is mgr's and the BB Bold is due out in August/September. This is not a friend of a friend who heard it in the food court etc. I play golf with him, he has a lot of BB customers in th corporate sector for AT&T etc. So its legit. AT&T can change the dates anytime they want but that is what it is.

since the device is on the AT&T website now, that *usually* indicates that we should be 30-45 days from release

How long was the Moto Q9h up on the AT&T site before it launched. How many rumored release dates were there that AT&T missed? If that is any indication then I don't expect it out in 30-45 days. Don't get me wrong, I have cash and want one now but that doesn't mean its going to happen.

I don't disagree with you that our desire for the device might be driving what we believe and don't believe about a possible release date. However, I'm not sure how much sense it makes to trumpet the device with all this fanfare when it's not due to be released for another two to three months. It would make more sense for RIM to try and capitalize on all the free publicity their announcement generated by releasing the product relatively soon.

Also, if they're hoping to make inroads into the consumer market, I would think they'd want to beat Apple to the punch. Once the iPhone 2 is announced, nothing RIM (or any manufacturer for that matter) trumpets will have much media impact.

oh i completely disagree with that last statement. RIM fanatics are just as loyal (or more so, remember the outage in Feb that everyone freaked over?) than Apple. Not to mention there are many times the number of RIM device users as Apple device users.

I wasn't referring to BB fanatics. RIM doesn't have to do much to cater to them, now do they? It's the average consumer that's warmed to the idea of switching to a smartphone they want to attract. RIM is clearly aiming this release towards the consumer market, which has a great deal of growth potential for the company. RIM will always get the low hanging fruit of their customer base with new releases. They obviously want to expand past that, otherwise they wouldn't be adding so much emphasis to 3G and multimedia features.
