Blackberry Bold Charging Pod
Please Login to Remove!
Odd thing just happened. I had received an e-mail from RIM indicating that the charging pod for the Blackberry Bold (the one as of yet unreleased in the US) was available for purchase. Since I have been purchasing all my accessories in anticipation of the release of the Bold on AT&T, I decided to get the pod.
I popped over to Blackberry.com and found the item. In stock. Great. I made the purchase, and I received an order confirmation via e-mail. All good so far.
Today, I decided to browse the Blackberry.com site again, and I found that the charging pod for the Blackberry Bold was, once again, listed as available on 09/10/2008. Huh? I checked my order status, and was sent an updated e-mail indicating that my order was process and is ready for shipment.
So, I guess I was able to successfully order the "unavailable" charging pod for the unavailable Blackberry Bold. Strange. Oh well... if nothing else, my order is in the system and will still get here before the Bold hits the US!

So far, I have an Invisible Shield screen protector and an 8GB SanDisk SDHC card. The charging pod is (presumably) on the way, as is a different (non-glare) screen protector. The last thing I need to get is the Seidio rubberized holster whenever it's available. I have an e-mail notification on that one as well.
Come on AT&T... I'll have all these accessories before the dang phone!

Yay! My order was accepted... I just checked and got my DHL shipping number. It has an estimated arrival to my house this Friday (September 12). Excellent!
Oh, and I just checked the US Blackberry store ( Shop Blackberry), and the charging pod for the Bold is listed in stock, for anyone that wants to go ahead and order one.
Also, Seidio Online is starting to list the products for the Bold, but they are showing as "in development" right now. Dang...

RIM's site has alwasy said the accessories for the Bold will be available on 9-9-2008, so now they are! I ordered two of the charging cradles which I would like but are a little too expensive if they are like the past RIM cradles. I like them as it take the wear off the USB connection ofr daily charging

Actually, the date was set for today (09-10-2008), so a day early! And I agree, the cost of the little plastic base that does nothing but charge the phone is a bit expensive, but it's ultimately worth it for the convenience.

SOrry for the error. My main concern would be for the USB connector and the wear on it on a daily basis. We all have heard of them breaking and that would be horrible to get fixed.

On the bottom corners of the device you will see two oval connection points. This is where the device charges from when placed in the pod.

I expect these things are going to go as quick as they come in, at least for a bit. I can only recommend checking daily for stock status.

So it lights up the RIM logo on the front when you drop your device in it?
Is the connection good so that you simply drop it in and not worry if it is charging?

the logo in front does not light up.. there is a light at the back of the cradle that lights up pretty cool.. the only thing I have noticed is that my alarm doesnt auto snooze when in the cradle like it does when its out of it...
