Default Looking To Switch To A Blackberry

Please Login to Remove!

Hi everyone,

Im new here and am looking to buy a new cellphone. Im an over the road truck driver and will be using it mostly for texting, Yahoo IM and of course phone calls. I keep seeing all the new touch phones like the Droids and iPhones. Im not really interested in over-priced rippoff contracts so Im looking at the pre-paid route. Im considering the Boost Mobile Blackberry Curve 8330 with the $60/month unlimited everything plan. $200 for the phone. Supposedly this will be connected to the Sprint/Nextel 3G network with no limits. Will i have access to all the standard Blackberry features and speeds with this? Will this Blackberry still use the Blackberry network too? Im kinda new to the Blackberry scene so I could use some advice

Did you try SEARCH on Boost Mobile? There are a number of people using Boost. You should also check the Boost section on HowardForums.com.

To use the blackberry-branded data services, you will need a blackberry data plan on your account. Regular carrier mobile data will not cut it. Must be the blackberry-specific data plan.

See http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.p...ta_Plan_for%3F.

Boost Mobile offers a Blackberry package with extra e-mail support for $60/month vs $50/month for all other cellphones. Is that what you are talking about?

Probably. Just make sure it will permit you to use BIS.

Also, take Dub's advice and do some research on Boost.

You might also check out Howard Forums' Boost section: Sprint Prepaid (Boost Mobile, Virgin Mobile, etc.).)

Thanks for all the links guys. It appears that the $60 unlimited plan does include BIS, blackberry messaging and blackberryAPPS. I could be wrong, but a Curve 8330 for $200 and unlimited everything for $60/mo ought to be a fairly good deal right? I seem to have pretty good coverage here.

Coverage is king. $60/month including BIS is a great deal so long as the network doesn't let you down.

Im using a Motorola i465 Clutch phone right now. Its an iDEN phone, but so far, I have had good signal in my area and even when Im in a semi, it wasnt any worse or any better than Verizon or Sprint. Im hoping the CDMA coverage is as good.

Hi, I wanted to ask something similar so no need to start a new Thread:
My new Carrier, Vodafone (I live in Greece) offers me unlimited phone calls and SMS and 500MB data (with BIS) every month with 50 euros. Does this seem ok?

And another thing: My device will have to be registered by both the Carrier and RIM, and then I will receive an e-mail by RIM telling me that my device has been registered?
Thank you.

@KD8HMO Since you're an over the road truck driver, you should be aware that the Boost plan doesn't have roaming. If you go into a state without Sprint coverage, you won't be able to use the Berry.
