Can anyone who has installed the final version of Opera Mini 4 answer some questions for me?

I've been using the Opera 4 beta for some time now, as well as Opera 3.1.
In Opera 4, I notice that images are often too pixelated under the low quality setting, but when High Quality Images is selected in the settings menu, many images do not load completely. I was wondering if there has been any improvement in the final version. I'm using the 8800.

I find myself still using Opera 3.1 to view RSS 2.0 feeds and some webpages, because images load much better. I know you can do the "mobile view" option in Opera 4, but this will not make pictures load any differently. I really do not want to upgrade to the final version and replace opera 3.1 if this means I'll have to deal with the reduced quality of web page loading.

Anyone know how to get the clock on the status bar back. One of the nice things I liked about opera 3 over the BB browser.

Default Opera mini as default browser

Is there any way of setting Opera to be the default browser of my BB8300? It is annoying when I use the G-mail application to follow a link and it opens in the BB Browser instead of Opera.

Also is there any way of avoiding the BB browser when downloading images?
This is really a very long process as to go through to eventually download the picture at the right size.

Thanks,
Raymond

Unfortunately no. Opera does have limitations such as downloading etc.
For now, you have no choice but to use the BB Browser.

I love Opera Mini 4. Makes the whole BB Internet experience MUCH better. However, one thing I'm seeing is that some sites don't support the "page overview"
and are much better suited to be viewed in "mobile view". My default is set as "mobile view" off.

My question is this: Is there a way to set certain websites so that they're brought up in "mobile view" whenever they're brought up?

Thanks.

This isn't happening for me. 2 and 8 do toggle through nicely though.. Do I just press the 3 key or do I have to press Alt and 3 at the same time?

That said I may have the very LAST version of the 4 beta..

I have removed "all images" and it blitzes along nicely and allows me to view forums nicely.

I am REALLY digging the RSS way of catching up with a forum!

Bummer it cant be allocated as default browser.. as all email forum alerts launch the BB browser..

Neither. You press # followed by the number, in this case 3. I am on a Pearl though, so the shortcuts may be different?

There is a problem with mobile.espn.com with opera. Here are my settings;

- curve 8310
- bb os ver. 4.2.2.170 (Platform 2.5.0.30)
- opera ver. 4.0 build 9751
- mobile view is on.

Here is the problem. The auto-refresh link for any nfl, nba, etc games score doesn't work. It doesn't "auto-refresh" and I have to manually refresh to see updated stats. Please fix this on the next version. Thx in advance.

Is it possible to "save page" with Opera Mini for viewing off-line without accessing the network? The BB Browser has an option which saves the web page to your message list, which is great when you are getting ready to get on an airplane. Anything similar with Opera? The history does not appear to require a reload, but doesn't really save the page.

Default Missing feature...

I've found what I feel is a pretty major missing feature...

I went to aintitcool.com using Opera Mini 4 to search for development status of a movie project I'm interested in.

You'll notice that the search box in the top-right corner does not have a 'go' button to the right... you're expected to type in the text, and then press 'enter' to instigate the search.

Using the BB browser, you can do this... just type directly in the box and then use the enter key.

With Opera Mini, to type in the text box, it brings up that text entry window... you type in what you want to search for... but there is no way that I can tell to force an 'enter' key press after entering your text in such a way that it instigates the search.

Anyone know a workaround?

Default OTA with pera mini

I've read on another forum that someone was able to do OTA of Gmail mobile and Gmail maps with Opera on their BB. I tried to do the same thing with mine.. I get to the screen that says download file, but that it stops. It doest revoke my BB browser at all.
Has someone else tried this and been able to do OTA with Opera?
On the other note, if you install DM 4.3, you can transfer the jad/jar file on your device memory and install them from there. It works.

Cheers
