The Sent mail hasn't been implemented yet, that's on the roadmap (currently slated for 0.4). With the message list -- what mail server do you run? There was a bug with Dovecot and folders, it was reported and fixed in LogicMail; there might be something amiss with the imap daemon you use.

Active tickets:
http://www.logicprobe.org/proj/logicmail/report/1

If something isn't working with your imap daemon, try and collect info (imap debug logs are very helpful) and open a ticket so Derek can apply his brain to the problem...

Please allow me to ask what some of you may consider a dumb question. What situation would enable IMAP? I use two corp OWA accounts, yahoo and gmail.

In your case, the Exchange admin would have to install/enable the IMAP4 connectors if they haven't already done so, then you could connect to your Exchange using LogicMail instead of using OWA. Yahoo/Gmail are not targets of this application.

Many, many universities and companies (mine included) use standards-compliant IMAP unix/linux servers for email, not Exchange/Outlook; the most common server daemons are UW-IMAP, Cyrus-IMAP, Courier-IMAP and Dovecot. LogicMail is filling a gap for us -- the RIM BES does not work because:

- it requires Windows
- it requires Exchange/Domino/Groupwise
- it does not support IMAP

...so we don't get the full BlackBerry experience on our devices. If RIM would get off their tuckus and release a unix/linux-based, IMAP-connecting version of BES there would be a ton of people all over it and LogicMail wouldn't really be that necessary (but still useful!).

Yeah, I can see the confusion they might end up in -- Exchange doesn't have the IMAP connectors installed by default (usually), an admin would have added those after the fact.

We have one iPhone an employee purchased, I had zero problems plugging it into our IMAP server -- works *fantastically*. I still don't like the keyboard but technically Steve & Co. did their homework. The only thing lacking is the ability to plug it into our corporate LDAP server for the email address book, perchance they'll add that in a future update.

Default LogicMail issue

Hello,
I DL the app and I love it, but there are a few problems i cant work around.
1. When i set up my IMAP account for Gmail, i keep getting the message that the server certificate is not trusted by my handheld. Is there a way around this? It gets really frustrating to click on continue all the time. The option dont try again does work.
Once i bypass this, i get in my inbox and all of my messages are displayed.
When I select a message, I get the certificate pop up again and finally unknown error. The sender and the subject are displayed but not the message. When i try to reply/reply all nothing happens. When i try to compose mail, everything works fine.
If i change the setings to POP, i get the messages fine, but when i hit reply/reply all i get "uncaught exception: java.lang.NullPointerExceptio
In this case, the forward option works fine.
Is someone else having similar problems to this? I would really like to use the app, so any help is appreciated.

I have LogicMail Version 0.3.2 and run BB OS v4.2.1.101

I just tested one of my GMail accounts and it seems to work as expected; however, two differences:

- I am running OS 4.2.2.xxx (BB 8320)
- I am running the 'CruiseControl' builds (meaning the latest source code)

The first thing I would try is uninstalling the 0.3.2 version and install the latest code - I've been running if for a day or two and it seems stable (not all are stable, it's part of the game to take a chance). Here's the OTA link to it to save you time:

http://www.logicprobe.org/builds/artifacts/LogicMail/latest/LogicMail.jad

As of this writing this links to build #30 dated 2008-01-06 (info page: http://www.logicprobe.org/proj/logic...92645Lbuild.30) and is the one I just tested with.

If the latest code doesn't fix/solve/help this problem then I would suggest posting over on the discussion area that the developer reads/replies on:

Thanks for the link for the OTA.
However, i dont have BB data plan so i cant do OTA. I used the switch user agent function to DL the JAD and than I DL the cod files and wrote an ALX file. For some reason, when i try to install using DM i get the message saying there are no other files associated with my application. Do you have DM install version of the latest relesae?
This is the ALX file I am using:
<loader version="1.0">
<application id="LogicMail">

</name>
<description>

</description>

Thanks

Sorry, I'm a linux guy and don't use Windows & the Desktop Manager for anything except OS upgrades. OTA installs for me for everything - I do the reverse of what you do, I take DM ALX files and make JADs out of them

I've heard you can put a JAD + JAR/COD(s) on your SD card, then use the Media 'Explore' functionality to navigate and click on the JAD file to install that way - I've never done it myself, but other people say it works. Sort of a local-OTA install, if you will.

I got the jad file from ur link.. but the jar file linked there.
I will try other ways to get the jar and will update

Loaded this (0.3.2) on my Pearl today and it is a very cool little app...I have a POP account (Road Runner) that is just buried in Spam, so I don't want it hitting my Pearl, but I want to check it once in a while. This app is perfect for that.

For viewing it was great.

Couple questions:

1. Reply didn't work...clicking on Reply had no result, except that the blue BB data transmission arrows would appear and flash for a few seconds in the upper right corner of the screen. Any ideas?

2. Forwarding and Compose didn't work. Selecting Foward opened a new message and allowed me to address it and type a fowarding comment, but I got "error with sender" when I tried to send. Same error with Compose, I could open a new message and enter address and content, but when I send I get the same "error with sender" message.

3. I turned off "Use MDS Proxy." I don't need that on BIS, right? I tried it w/it on and it couldn't connect properly...

I checked several times to ensure I had the email account set up correctly, so I don't think this is an operator error situation...I checked and double-checked the settings w/the RR help page just to be sure.

Seems you are having some of the same problems I've been facing. I wrote on the discussion forum of the developer. Hope to hear from them soon

Yeah, I've been thinking about doing that. I should probably just set it up.
