I just got this phone last night, charged it placed old sim card in it and turned it on can use phone can use voicemail, i can "see" that i have 2 text messages, but when i go to the messages icon, i get general options that i can select and a messages option that i can't select, i called nextel and the girl told me i can't use my sim card with it and i have to have the bbemail account for 39.99 I am like what not for just regular messages,, huh ???? is she right or what ????

If I understand, what you were told is you will need a blackberry data plan if you want email. Understand that with the blackberry there is voice and data. Text messages a la SMS is not billed as data. Look around the forum re discussions about using the blackberry with/without data plan. I think some are able to do some things with opera mini without the blackberry data plan, but I never paid attention to the details so can't adequately repeat here. Best advice is check the FAQ...your answers are there.

yep you will get charged for the plan they will auto add it on a blackberry
or you will paying thou the nose in data charges .. it may work for now but you may want to add the unlimited plan it don't include text messaging unless you use the one for data ramble jive-talk
