Every morning at 5:45 AM, I get a message from 9999999999, with a bunch of symbols; no information of any use. I didn't subscribe to any services like that. Is there any way to block these messages on my Blackberry 8530?

That is usually done at the carrier level. On Sprint's site there is a section for blocking callers or message senders. Check the Virgin site.
