Default BB Curve 8520 power issue (on BES)

Please Login to Remove!

I've been told that when resetting password via BES that if the Blackberry charge is less than 15% the password change will not work? Is this correct?

We've also been told that if the Blackberry has less than 5% charge, it's ablity to connect to email, voicemail, etc. is affected.

Obviously it's nothing to ask the customer to charge the device, but both statements seem a little far fetched, has anyone else experienced similar problems?

Thanks

Dan

Moved to proper section

And a note, one should never let the battery get below 20% on a regular basis as that can damage a lithium battery.

Thanks for the info Dubdub, unfortunately some of our customers often let the charge run down below 10% before thinking about charging the device.

When the battery gets to low it shuts the wireless radio off. This could be what would prevent the PW change to take place. However, the command should queue and then when the device is charged (radio is enabled again), the PW change should go into affect.

When the battery level in the device gets too low, the wireless radio(s) will automatically shut off. When the radio is off, there is no way to communicate with the device at all. Hence, a password reset from BES will not be able to occur.

BES IT Policy can also be set to completely wipe the device if the battery level drops too low.

This is true. See above for explanation.

It's not a problem. This power saving feature is by design and cannot be changed.
