I had this installed for the past couple days, but my battery life went to hell. I rolled back to .239. Using .239 I could go almost two days without recharging. With .250, I was at 20% before bedtime. It was very stable, though.

After 24 hours with this new version running, I can report that it was stable and snappy all day, and memory held up throughout the day. I've noticed that my battery is down at 65% now, after it's been in use for about 15 hours. With the prior build, I was generally at about 75% around this time. Only difference I can think of might be that I had geotagging for pictures turned on this time -- don't know if that makes more calls to the GPS unit and uses more battery, or if there's no correlation at all. I'll get a better sense of this over the next few days. One way or the other, it's definitely snappier than the last build, and worked well enough so that there's no reason for me to look back...

Viigo seems to be flakier... I can't really tell, it may just be slow over edge... I'm going to downgrade when I get a chance, and see if it doesn't get better, and if it makes no difference, I suppose I'll reupgrade.

your battery could be on the sprits too, batterys dont last forever just saying thats all, not saying thats whats going on!


i still have that issue of a folder on the home screen movement slowing down after a while... after a reboot its fine, but after say 6 hours it slows to a crawl in the folder, Home Screen is fine still. anyone else have that issue?

Overall, it seems pretty stable, good memory, good battery life. Scrolling through my folders gets pretty laggy as well. Anybody else notice that it seems like the volume issues seem to have been resolved?

Day 2 -- I've had the 8900 off the charger since 7am. It's now 7pm. After 12 hours of average use including several phone calls, some pictures, SMS, IM, bluetooth on all day and used in the car on a few trips, apps on all day including Viigo, LiveSearch, BeeJiveIM -- my battery is at 90%. That's great so far. I suspect that having geotagging on while shooting a bunch of pics forced the phone to make heavier use of the GPS, but that suggests that GPS battery drain varies depending on use, and I don't really know if that's true or not. Anyway -- my battery seems to be fine, and this build (250) seems to be fine as well.

I recently got a T-mobile 8900, with 4.6.1.114 installed. Version 4.6.1.250 doesn't seem to be available anymore, but 4.6.1.239 is. Are there problems with .239 that would make it inadvisable to install it?

if you can find 231, get that. i liked that version more than 239. but definitely keep checking for 250 to get back up because that's the best.

4.6.1.250 is still out there... just requires a wee bit of diligence and rudimentary reconnaissance skills...

Thanks! I had forgotten to update my profile. Fixed now, and still happy with .250 so far.

Also been testing Facebook 1.6 and the new 1.0 version of YellowPages on this, and they both work just fine with this release. FB 1.6 is a nice upgrade, and YellowPages looks like really nice LBS app. Fun!

I did finally locate OS 4.6.1.250 for my new Javelin--it was embarrassingly easy to find. After running it for almost a week, I have the impression that battery life is worse. I say that with some hesitation, since I'm pretty new to the 8900, but I was running .114 and then .239 and with both of them I typically had 40% or so left when I went to bed at night. With .250 it's been .20 or less; in fact, last night it ran out of power altogether before I went to bed. That has never happened, not only on the 8900 but also on the 8320 that I had previously. I also had a spontaneous reboot yesterday, which I've only seen happen once before, on my 8320.

I'm not going to downgrade back to .239 just yet. I'll give it another week or so and see how it goes.

Just got my 8900 last week, so I can't really compare original OS to 4.6.1.250, which I installed right away. Seems to be very stable, no problems at all. Bring on 5.0!

Having now used .250 for over a week, I have to say that battery life seems pretty poor. But I didn't have the previous OS versions installed long enough to make a direct comparison, so it's possible that it's just the way the 8900 is.

I notice in particular that playing media really drains the power fast. I'd expect this with video, but even playing mp3s seems to be a quick drain, and that shouldn't be.

I've also had four or five spontaneous reboots. The cause is usually, or always, the browser. Usually it's when I'm zoomed in on a page and scrolling. It starts getting very laggy and then...lights out!

But again, I don't know how much of this is the OS version and how much is just the foibles of the 8900.

Weird --

I had 4.6.1.250 installed before, and then moved up to 5.0.0.100. I found that .100 wasn't as stable as I would like, so I moved down to the official TIM Italy release of 4.6.1.250, which is what's installed right now.

I noticed today that I cannot edit my phone profiles anymore -- never seen this before. I go through the normal process of scrolling to the profile icon (e.g., the image that goes with one of Loud, Vibrate, Quiet, Normal, Phone Only, Off, etc) and select "Advanced", after which I should be able select a profile and edit the choices. When I do this now, NOTHING happens when I click a profile icon after choosing Advanced - nada. So I also try clicking on the icon, hitting the menu button and choosing "edit" -- and still no joy.

Seems that it's now impossible for me to edit my profiles with .250 installed. Not a memory issue, as I have more than 124MB free right now (according to "status"). Nothing else running that should interfere with this, unless QuickLaunch or BerryWeather somehow mess this up (which I cannot imagine).

I'll try a battery pull, but I'm not optimistic this will make a difference.

Anyone else with this issue?
