Default Using my Bluetooth Headset

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All,

When ever I activate my headset and it connects using Bluetooth, the phone dials the last number I called out on. Any idea why that is and how to stop it? My phone is a 9700 Bold.

What about your headset...have you looked at the functionality of it? Is it fully compatible with the 9700 and which button on the headset is it that triggers "last number redial"? Which headset are you using? Possible that you're holding the button down too long and that it's the same button that triggers that feature? It's probably not a BB issue --

Default Re: Using my Bluetooth Headset

Thanks for the follow up. I am using a Jabra that is about 5 years old. I do not press a button to connect. It automatically does a connect when I remove it from my charging cradle. However I did turn it off and back on to see if there was a difference and there wasn't. It still tried to dial the last number I call.
The phone also did this with my Plantronics headset so I am thinking there is some sort of setting that has to be changed. Another thing that makes me think it is a setting is that it used to engage the voice dial when the headset connected and that changed recently to calling the last number I dialed.

My wife has an older blackberry model 82XX I don't remember the full model number and hers is doing the same thing.

Thanks,

If your wife's is doing the same thing, with the same headset...logic seems to dictate it's your headset gone bad...to me anyway. There are no settings on a BB to control that AFAIK...however, the only thing that doesn't work here, is that your Plantronics does it as well with your BB...

Which OS is your BB on? I've never heard of an issue like this...

Some online tech savvy people are saying to backup the data - wipe the phone and restore, without the call logs...

It could well be data corruption causing this - and the more I think about it, the more I'm convinced it exactly that.

This is what I'd try --

1) Backup all of your data
2) Use Javawipe or Javaloader to wipe the phone date and usable OS
3) Restore the latest OS
4) After the OS restore (but NOT data) - test the Bluetooth function with a re-pairing of the devices.
5) If it all works well, selectively restore your data, excluding the phone options and logs.

There are other reports of this happening on other BB's via various types of Bluetooth connections...
