Default 8310 Address Book Problems

Please Login to Remove!

I recently inherited a model 8310 when my wife upgraded. She has never used the address book, but I want to. I am finding the Address Book function very frustrating.

When I do a synch with Outlook using the Blackberry Desktop Manager, the calendar synchs fine. However, the entries in the Outlook Contacts download, but they are not in the Blackberry Address Book. The only way that I can get to them is by going to the Search function in Applications.

Please help.

Open the address book. Then open the address book menu. Click Filter. See if anything is checked. Do you see anything checked? If so, uncheck it.

The filter may be you problem. Sounds like it. Check. If not, we'll look at something else.

Whether I check Business or Personal, the message is NO ADDRESSES.

Thanks for the suggestion.

First, you need to uncheck all filters. Check nothing. Leave nothing checked.

Second, I understand from your post that you have multiple address books. In other words, if you open address book options, you see multiple contact lists in contacts options. Is that correct? If so, I would use Desktop Manager and delete the address book/contacts data bases, then do a hard reset, and then do another sync. My guess is you have multiple address books and Desktop Manager is not sync'ing with either. When you delete those and do a hard reset, the device will create a default contact list, which will sync.

Third, was the device on a BES before it was given to you? Was the IT policy removed, or does the device still have the IT policy?

I'm assuming you are now using the device on BIS, or maybe no data plan, but not on BES.

Default Many thanks.

1. Unchecking the filter boxes solved the problem. The business filter was checked either in default or inadvertently.

2. Do I still need to do the delete?

3. The device has no IT policy nor been on Enterprise. It has always been on internet and data plans through AT&T. I am not sophisticated enough to know the details of the internet and data packages.

Thanks again. I believe that I am good to go.

If it is working for you now, I would leave well enough alone.

I don't know why you have two address books. I'm aware of google apps and other things automatically creating calendars and address books, but don't know exactly what likely occurred in your case. But if it doesn't matter to you, I wouldn't worry about it, so long as it isn't causing a problem.
