Default VZW replacement 8130 quality issues

Please Login to Remove!

This morning fedex delivered my replacement 8130s, they are obviously refurbs becuase they came shrinkwrapped in brown cardboard boxes. Which is cool, I can deal with refurbs, but mine seems to have quality issues. Most noticeably the backlight for the keyboard has a yellow hue, where as my original was white. Also, side by side the replacement 8130's screen is darker than the original one. Lastly, the trackball is very smooth when scrolling, similar to my old 8100 that was well used. The device seems to function but did I get a a dud quality-wise? And do I have a good case to take it to a Verizon store and ask for a new replacement?

I would look to return it and re-enter the refurb-lottery...there are lots of winners, but there are some losers too.

It seems you may have lost this time.

I had the same issue. My original phone's trackball blew up in a couple months, I sent in for a replacement, and it was clearly a refurb that had the exact same problem. I had to wait in the store for 4 hours before they finally gave in and got me a new replacement.

Gone thru two replacements, both were no-gos. 1st one had a bad keypad backlight that looked yellowish and the 2nd one has a crappy end button that clicks when pressed. So back it goes on to replacement #3 which will be my 4th pearl.

At what point will Verizon offer me a brand new device or a different device of comparable price?
