Default Reload Software 552 Error NEED HELP BAD

Man boy does this suck, I am outside of the US for the next three weeks and on christmas day my blackberry tour crashes. Error reload software 552 (Yay another tour for me) Anyway I'm not really happy because I am on a semi vacation, need internet and gps as I travel throughout europe and a few calls in case of emergency.

The only beacon of light is that I bought my gf a tour for christmas but she has a spending limit and sprint won't add her to gsm network. I have to add her to my account but if anybody can tell me how to fix the 552 issue that would be great.

I followed these steps but they don't seem to work. trying with version .57

Complete the following steps to resolve this issue:

Verify that the BlackBerry Desktop Manager and the current BlackBerry Device Software (for your BlackBerry smartphone) is installed on the computer.
Remove the battery from the BlackBerry smartphone.
Open the BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the computer. Do not insert the battery.
Click Application Loader.
Under the Update Software heading, click Start.
Click Options. This allows you to add or remove applications from the BlackBerry smartphone.
Select the applications that you want to install.
Click Next.
Click Next.
Click Finish.
Once the application load process starts, insert the battery into the BlackBerry smartphone.

Are you following the directions in the yellow sticky at the top of the 9500 sections?

Did you install the OS on your PC and delete the vendor.xml file?

Just searched on that error . . . It seems that error is thrown because of a bad application. Just FYSA. You may want to just resinstall the OS first and then be very judicious on deciding which applications to reinstall.

I'm sorry to say but the tour seems like it really is a good phone but it is a piece of shat. Trackball breaks, phone lags, takes forever to reboot, these white screen of death.

I have had three tours now, I mean I don't even know how sprint makes a profit with this kind of stuff. Anyway tried everything, even sprint says they have to replace the phone.

Find a copy of 5.0.0.230 for the Tour and load it. I have not had the dreaded 552 error since I moved to 5.0.

I had this error but only installed one app at the time.. Iheartradio was the program that did it for me. As aiharkness said it is a bad app that causes this problem. Hope you did a recent backup of your data and just start by completely wiping your device and then slowly go and reinstall all your apps except the one that may have caused the error.. Took me some time to get it all back up and running, but it can be done..

For wiping I used BBSAK or you can use JLCommander too. Both are good applications to do the wiping.

Take your time and it will be back as good as new..
