Example: If you receive a text message that has a phone number, it's underlined, and when you thumb over, the menu has the option of call number.

How is this done/what is this feature called? I'm trying to do something similar in a custom application, but I want to set the bounderies of what's highlighted, and then ofcourse provide the action?

Try using the field type ActiveRichTextField. This causes phone numbers and web links to be highlighted so a simple click of the wheel allows the user to call a phone number or launch the browser with a link.

Another tip... Say you want a field that is normally a numeric field but occassionally needs to accept alpha. Rather than force the user to always use the Alt key to enter numbers most of the time, you can use EditField.FILTER_PHONE when you set the style for the field. This allows numeric entry by default and using the Alt key allows text (just like when entering a phone number and you need to enter text ie, 1-800-ABC-DEFG).
