The resolution is slightly better but the overall size is smaller, I do believe.

That's fine. I'll take a smaller screen for a smaller unit overall anyway. I saw one comparison showing it next to a Pearl, and it's not a whole lot bigger. No Bold for me!

Oh my.....I think I am in love. While I very much enjoy my 8830, this little devil has already stolen my heart!!!! Very sweet indeed. However, being a Verizon customer I may have to wait a bit (a lotta bit!) Oh well, patience is a virtue...one I'm not blessed with..sigh...

In those pics the trackball looks more like one of those eraser/nipple pointers on some laptops.

I love it. I might have to hold out on the Bold. Someone I know from HK who sells stuff to here (PH) said he's selling the Bold from CSL, unlocked for $750 (equivalent). Yikes!

Yep. Mine was a hair over $ 800.

Looks like an awesome phone, I really like that the keyboard has space between the keys, that's what bothers me the most about the full sized 88xx series and the bold.

Now the micro usb stinks, but at least you can make an adapter easily to goto miniusb, but it's another adapter to carry in the end. Also, for what it's worth, micro usb is NOT faster then mini usb, it is just a more compact connector for the 4 pins + ground then mini. They're both USB 2.0 connectors and will perform at the same speed given that the computer is equipped with USB 2.0, 1.0 will be slow any way you look at it.

External charging contacts. Does this mean that there will be true docking / charging stations available?

If there are external contacts you can count on a dock.

The most interesting observation is that I'm starting to notice Javelin's screen is higher resolution than Bold.

480x320 - Bold - 3:2 aspect ratio
480x360 - Javelin - 4:3 aspect ratio

Pictures of the devices does seem to agree that the two screens have different aspect ratios.

Me neither, but I'd use a tiny adaptor dongle. One extra thing to keep attached to a cable or charger, but at least it can be used on all MiniUSB connectors.

(I'll be sticking to my Bold, but this is a nice looking device anyway)
