Sounds like you've decided to make the switch; but, let me add to the chorus. Whatareyouwaitingforgoahead! I made the same switch this past weekend and have no regrets (well maybe SureType). The size of the keys has been a very, very minor issue for my big thumbs, but everything else (Screen, Integrated GPS, Increased Memory, Faster) more than makes up for that!

PS: Don't forget to by a mini to micro adapter and you'll be set.

You wont be dissapointed with the switch. I went from a 8100 to the 8900. I did miss the suretype for a bit, but now it feels so wrong to even use a pearl. They just dont feel right size wise or usage wise.

OK...So i have been using this thing for a few hours now. So far its pretty impressive. Fast, looks great and the colors on teh screen are so vivid. Plus I love the 3.2 MP camera.

My first [negative] thoughts:

- I still hate this microUSB stuff. I went to buy those adapters; sure they are cheap at amazon, but wow shipping is NOT cheap. $20 shipping for a total of four adapters that cost $6 and weighs less than 1 lbs?

- How the hell do you type on here...these keys are small. I can't imagine how women with long fingernails do it - although I can't imagine how they do anything with those long nails.

- I miss the L theme

- Anyone use this for music? That button up top for locking the BB used to be a mute and pause/play button on the Pearl. Is this feature no longer an option or do I have to configure something? EDIT: I think I just realized the button I am looking for is now on teh right of the Blackberry. I didn't notice it before because I hadn't taken the sticker off of it yet. I know I can't be the only one who waits days to take the stickers off.

- The Pearl would start dialing when you clicked on any key - not the same here?

- I pretty much use Opera exclusively, but i like how this BlackBerry Browser looks and want to use it more. Is there any easier way to zoom in and out - without having to go to the menu?

I may edit this with some more things but this was my first take. If anyone has any answers to these, please let me know.

Thanks!

you'll get used to the small keys unless you have big hands.

I believe there are some custom L themes now available for the 8900.

The 8900 will start dialing as well as long as you're not in an application. Remember, the number buttons are a small portion of the keyboard and only those keys will being dialing.

The browser will zoom in if it's not over a button, hotlink, or other selectable area. So if you're browsing a webpage, clicking in whitespace or text that is too small to read will zoom in.

Default 8100 > 8320 > 8900

I started using my daughter's 8100 on Feb 2nd this year and was hooked on BB after only a week. I upgraded to a 8320 on Mar 30. Was getting comfy with the 8100 Suretype and one-handed typing, but except for having to correct a few typos I liked the 8320 form factor. Tmo lowered the price of the 8900 last Tuesday, so since I was within 14 days, was able to upgrade to the 8900 on April 7th. I am impressed with the 8900 and don't have to check avail memory on a regular basis. I like the screen resolution as well. My only issue was that I couldn't get BBweather to work, but then found the lastest version (beta?) that works like a champ.

I would go for it.

Opera browser beats the BB one by a huge margin!!
Hopefully BB can bring SureType back to the Javelin with a firmware upgrade, I do miss it so. Could also SureType much faster than QWERTY.

Thank you for pointing out to me it has a "stand by" button top right, what does it do though?? I can use any functions with it on stand by but will I still get calls and messages?

Standby helps you conserve battery but you can still get calls and emails.

And yes I too have found that the new browser still can't beat Opera.

Ok - thanks for all of your feedback. It is definitely worth the upgrade.

Although my 6 year old SIM card died at some point in the early Sunday morning while I was sleeping. After being used in 4 different Blackberrys she died on Easter Sunday. Man I really wanted to take advantage of the GPS functions I have never had and use it to look for gas stations, speed traps and directions. All Tmobile stores were closed so it was really only good for wifi surfing.

Anyway - things that make it worth it:
- screen
- memory !!!
- speed
- GPS + WiFi
- Facebook 1.5
- App World
- Putting .avi files on there without having to compress
- ability to delete media files without having to browse the card

I realize a lot of these are functions of the OS, but its all new to me since my Pearls couldn't run 4.6 or above.

Things that still annoy me:
- micro-USB
- Size - still getting used to it
- lack of Suretype but am getting used to qwerty
- lack of a good holster
- reboot after every App World or OTA application install

All this being said, what a great device ! Although I may leave my Tmobile for the Niagara; seems all the same as 8900 but with the Bold keyboard and 3G/EVDO.

I came to the 8900 from the Pearl. Thought I'd miss the Suretype but I make less mistakes on the qwerty. Buy a handful of the mini-micro USB adaptors on Ebay and all of your cables will continue to be useful. Love the 8900.
