Great post, I was kicking myself for selling the 8320 with the charging dock, I am happy to see that it does not work with the 8900.

Loving my dock, just wish I didn't have to take my skin off, and wish I could transfer files with it. Oh well, I guess I'll just stick with BT transfers for now.

I just received my dock. The instructions say you can use it connected to your computer, you have to use the wall charger cable instead. Anyone know why this is. Seems kind of odd.

It's actually really pretty! It looks like a non touch screen version of the Blackberry Storm, but a slimlined version of the Curve. LOL. I originally thought the Javelin was supposed to be a different version of the Bold, but I really like it.

Can someone who has the cradle and used it with their 8900 please post what the RIM P/N is on the bottom of the cradle?

I just picked up the cradle from Newegg for $20 shipped, and it looks like it is the right cradle. However the the package says ASY-14396-007 but the cradle has HDW-14390-001 on the bottom. I don't have my 8900 yet, so want to confirm I have the right cradle.

Thanks.

Just take a peek at the power connector on the back of the cradle, if it's micro usb, you've got the right one.

I just ordered an oem cradle and some mini to micro usb adapters from e-bay. They should show up soon and I can take advantage of the nightstand mode.

Also noticed my plastic holster from my 8320 works pretty well with this phone, just a little side to side play. After I get my Zagg on it I'll feel better...

Mine cradle has exactly the same (HDW-14390-001) and it works just fine...By the way is there a way to have the cradle for charging with usb port from a laptop and syncronize via bluetooth? if yes can anyone elaborate more on the steps?
thanks

Just make sure desktop manager is closed on the desktop so it won't try to talk to the berry while it's plugged into the usb port. Then turn on bluetooth and sync as you normally would.

Have to ask, are you not synching with the laptop? If you are, it's alot easier to just use the USB cable for it all.

thanks for the reply...I am synching with the laptop via USB but everytime I want to sync I have to take off the mini from cradle and insert it in 8900. I am thinking og having always the usb connected to the cradle and sync via bluetooth whenever needed. (I am on BES so I guess sync is only limited to what???? wll it be exactly as being online with the DM?

If you're on a bes, there's really no need to keep it connected to desktop manager. You should still however back the device up every once in a while using the USB cable.

Other then that, no need to use DM for every night charging / syncing.

Has anyone else ordered the skins? Is the white really white? Or is it more clear like with the older curves?

I really like the white/clear skin I have for my 8300, but looking at some pictures of the 8900 skins the white really looks white. (not transparent).

Also has anyone purchased the gray colored one?

Thanks!
