I don't know how you guys get to use your BlackBerry™ for more than one day without charging, and I don't know why you guys don't charge every night regardless where the charge is. I have an 8320, 8830, and tried the 8900. None of them could get me past one day without charging, making calls, surfing the web, and emails all day. The only one that could go more than a day, barely, is the 8830, but I hardly make any calls on that device. Just charge it daily.

I charge mine every night as soon as I get home. I get up at 0430 and get home around 6 or 7. The 8900 did not even last me till 2 PM. After the update to the official .133 release. It lasted the entire day and I think I still had 1 or 2 bars. Which is normal for me since I am a pretty heavy user. And WiFi and BT are always on in my devices.

I too cam from an BlackBerry Curve and have noticed that the battery doesnt hold a charge as nearly as long as my curve. i have updated to .133 thinking that the os would help the battery keep its charge better. i have found that it does marginally. i left the blackberry on my nightstand lastnight and was fully charged when i went to bed. i woke up at 5 am and found that the blackberry is down to 20% charge where as my blackberry curve would hold a charge for about 4 days before going dead and thats with emails coming in many times a day. im curious how .144 would do.

Not lasting till 2PM is a problem. I'm on 45% and I've been using the device heavily since 0630. Emails, two hours of use as mp3, wifi and BT on all day.

Thanks
the .158 is the package version; what everyone refers to when they are talking about s/w versions is actually the "applications" version which in this case is 4.6.1.94 for application version 4.6.1.158 (rogers official release so far).

I too had ridiculous battery life with my 8900. I replaced my pouch with a swivel holster from Blackberry.com and problem solved. I have not updated my OS yet, not sure if I will yet as there seems to be so many issues after the upgrade. But yes, the supplied pouch with the phone is definitely a problem.

Interesting thread, seeing as I have the same problem, perhaps this could be stickied seems a common problem amongst a lot of users here, this is my 4th BB and the first time I have had such bad battery life, I upgraded too, slight improvement but by no means resolved...

These threads always make me wonder why everyone doesn't just plug their BB in at night and lay it on their nightstand. WOW, a full battery EVERY morning!!!! How cool is that?? If you don't do that explain why....

Mine lasted 2 full days of above average use (for me). I'm not a heavy user, and I think 2 days is about right for what I did with the phone. I came from an 8100 with an 30% bigger Seidio battery and got about 4 days out of that. And I used the OEM pouch, which fits really good after a little leather conditioner and loosening it up. It's a way better pouch than my wife got with her Curve. I got a very similar $30 indigo blue one from RIM that has a metal square logo on it and I'm sending it back because it's no better quality and it's really tight on the phone. It pushes buttons and stuff, so I'll ditch it and stick with the original (that I badmouthed before).

No way is the battery life great in any way. I will not last the day. The other day, I tried to make it last from 0530 to 2130 but the battery was in RED!

Hello everyone I've had the phone for 3 days with .114 I believe and I have constantantly been surfing the web on wifi and using the UMA I don't know if that is a big drain but it seems as if I am a heavy user. Now my battery made it to red on its first day but it was an uncharged battery from the opening. I have been using the GPS frequently and using this thing to max potential. I have not even unwrapped the pouch. All you have to do is always put your phone in standby when not using and charge all night (and I don't shut it off at night). I have been heavilly using today for 2 hours already and am at 95 %. I don't know how well that is to you guys, but I feel as if that would be about right. Hope this helps.

What OS version are you using?

I am on .133 (official) and my battery life is fine. I can easily get through a day without charging.

With GPS, on the other hand, my battery life gets killed quickly.

It's in my link the same as yours (official) this morning in 3 hours I was down to 30% battery, funnily enough I recharged it again did a battery pull and after 4 hours am on 95% hope this is the turning point...

@SilvioD did you do the cycle charges within these 3 days?

Only one thing will deplete a battery that fast: a constantly searching radio (GPS, RSS feed from a website, carrier signal, whatever). Forget about the OS, it can't help much at all. Pulling the battery probably shut off the searching radio.
