I can not believe that RIM is still having these BS build quality problems with there current devices. Seriously, every single NOKIA that I've owned never had one build issue. As for RIM, this is all started with the 8800 series, and has been an issue with every device after it.

You must be kidding the 8700 was riddled with build and design issues at first....

so i've been reading a few of the blackberry forums, blackberrforums.com and also crackberry.com and there are a few people that have already gone through 4 8900s as they're previous ones were defective. the production dates that they said had problems were ones dated 06/02/09. you can find the production date on the side of the box. anyone else have problems with certain production dates?

let me know.

thanks!
Gee, could ya vague that up for us?

In other words, TELL US what problems people are experiencing, so we know what to watch for!

Anyway... Mine was produced on 190109 (1/19/09), made in "Mexico 3", Line 22 and no problems so far! *knocks on wood*

Nokia? Are you serious? I've never held a more flaming pile of crap in my hand than the many 35xx and 60xx series of Nokias that I used.

Same production date and line here. My keypad moves very slighty, not a big deal to me though. I also noticed the backlight on my keypad is really dim toward the Y U I H J K L keys. Again, nothing I will go crazy about, the keypad still functions, just wondering if anybody else experiences this. Everything else seems in check.

Production Date: 150109
Line 22
Made in Mexico

My keyboard also shifts a little but it doesn't really bother me as it only happens when I force it and not when I am typing.

The only problem I have is that you have to press harder on the right custom key than the left. It almost seems like a half click on a camera. Perhaps it is supposed to be like that though for the autofocus.
