Well, actually it wasn't a typo. However, I could be mistaken. My understanding is:

SMS = Short Message Service, also known as texts.

MMS = Multimedia Messaging Service which includes pictures, videos, rich text, etc.

In any case, I am charged for texting from one phone to another phone. For an extra few dollars a month, I can get cheaper texting, but since, I average less than 1 text message a month, it's just not worth it.

I have noticed you have T-Mobile. You mention a plan that you say isn't offered anymore. That could be part of it. My $20 data plan is no longer on their website either. It's now listed as $25 and includes texting (I don't remember if it's unlimited).

i too have the grandfathered t-mobile blackberry minutes and mail BIS $60 plan which includes 1000 minutes (no nights/wknds), unlimited data, and unlimited text. if i needed more minutes i can add UMA calling for $10 more. sadly, MMS aren't included and t-mobile charges me 10 cents per MMS, not a biggie.

i absolutely love my plan and love t-mobile and plan to upgrade to a 3G blackberry using this grandfathered plan when my current 2 yr contract expires in february 2011.
