Default SMS fix for OS .411

Please Login to Remove!

This is how you fix the .411 SMS Bug where it confuses people you want to message or receive messages from

- Download BBSAK (If you google it, it should be the first result, sorry but I'm not allowed to post links yet...)

- Install it
- Connect your device
- Open BBSAK
- Click on Read Sistem
- Find net_rim_bb_sms_compose.cod and click on it
- Click on Remove COD
- Wait for the phone to reboot (it will do this by itself after you remove the COD)
- Then click on install COD and find the COD that I'm attaching on this thread
-Wait for the device to Reboot (again it will do this by itself after you install the new COD)
- Enjoy!

it worked for me 100%
all we're doing here is replacing the .411 net_rim_bb_sms_compose.cod with the .314 one which is not buggy

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the tip. Just in case others have the same problems:

* I googled BBSAK and it sent me to download the latest version at rimgeeks, which would not allow me to download it without being registered, and then would not accept a registration.

* I found version 1.7 on another site (listed as mirror site 2), installed and ran it -- but it would not open properly or connect to my BB.

* I have not managed to find a working link to the previous versions (1.6 or 1.5) -- otherwise I would try those.

So if anyone has an alternative to this fix, I'd be grateful for a steer.

Update: I managed to download an earlier version using an older link, connected it to my device, did as instructed above -- it may have solved the problem, but it has also wiped out all my SMSs except for three or four random ones from 2009, so be careful!

Always make a backup of your device before upgrading your OS or making changes with BBSAK. You can selectively restore databases like SMS Messages using Desktop Manager afterwards.

This is the BBSAK version that worked for me --> BBSAK V1.5

No problems in using Windows 7 by the way, I also wiped and upgraded my BB to 5.0 OS with it flawlessly :D

The FIX of the sms bug was a very good and helpful post.
thank you for that post

i have downloaded directly here the BBSAK 1.7 version
http://rimgeeks.com/download.php?f=B..._Installer.msi

ACTUALLY GREAT !!! (SARCASTIC)

i deleted the rim_bb_sms file and the device rebooted, but after that is put on the phone app (type in name or number to make a call) with a white background.
i installed the other cod. device hangs up, reboot only with battery pull and the restart again totally bad.

i think that one is gone and i will have to do FAC settings.
what the heck did i do wrong here?

Can we use the older 4.6 net_rim_bb_sms_compose.cod. I donot like the threaded SMS style.

IS there any other option to change the threaded chat style SMS.
