okay, its actually not that dangerous, just one thing worries me-

Please advise those that are not on a data plan, that they will likely need to pay to have their carrier re-install the browser. I say this only from experience. I tried to get it to work from a hundred different people but to no avail. I am using Cricket as my unlimited calls, text and Internet. 45.00 per month. But they donxxx8217;t have a Service Book which will be wiped when you upgrade the OS. I updated the OS from 4.7.094 to my currently running the 5.0.0.328 and want to upgrade to the .419 but the headache of 20.00 bucks to have browser re-installed on the flashed phone is one i would like to avoid. Unless you have a brighter idea then the other 100 forums that could not provide an answer.

lol what does that mean? as i dont have data plan its not even problem for me

What are you saying?

i dont understand

--

and that screen cap means that your device is recognized, but for w/e reason the DM cant find any software to load on to it.

are you REALLY sure that you got the right download, it installed correctly and there is a JAVA folder inside your RIM shared files location?

wiping the device should let you install 5.0...

Navigate to

c:\program files\common files\research in motion\shared

There should be a folder for each and every OS you have downloaded and installed.

aww whoops. yeah i should have mentioned that.

that folder (or equivelent on a 64 bit system) is where all the OS's for your device will be.

make sure that you only have the LATEST version FOR THE DEVICE YOU WANT TO UPGRADE in that folder.

this has caused me problems in the past where i had software for an 8320 and an 8900 and an 8120 all on the same machine.

you can install as many OS packages as you want, but you need to make sure that you only have one folder (the one you want to intsll to your device) in the SHARED folder.

what i do is install all the OS packages that i need, trim them down and then copy the ones i dont need ATM out to a different directory.

that way, when loader.exe is looking around for files to install, it will *only* find the folder ment for my device.

hope that helps
