Default Speed Dial question

Please Login to Remove!

Can the default assignments for the speed dial letters be changed? I have a need for the A, but then noticed it was set to “lock”. Which is odd since there is a dedicated lock button on top.

Wirelessly posted (8820)

If it is still the same way on new models, the keyboard shortcut is a quick press of the key, say like R for alarm. I have a speed dial # on R also, but speed dial is accomplished by holding the key. Quick press R opens the alarm app; long press dials the #. Unless the operation is different on new.models.

And unless something has changed, the "speed dial" for A, Q and W cannot be permanently changed. You can change them, but the OS changes them back to Lock, Toggle between Quiet/Normal Profiles and Cellular Voice Mail, respectfully.

I'm confused on whether y'all are talking about keyboard shortcuts, or speed dial. I accidently changed the customer service speed dial to one of my contacts one time and left it that way, and it has stayed that way through multiple OS upgraded and device upgrades. Granted, I'm only at the 8820 "old generation" device, and maybe T-Mobile is somehow different, too. So, I don't argue on a shortcut--no way, no how will you change that. Just curious about the cellular voice mail speed dial # being reset, if that is what happens.
