I am trying to use myVerizon Wireless BB Torch 9850 over Wifi in the UK. I just arrived and subscribed to a BB plan on O2, but they say it may take up to 24hrs for the service to be activated.

While I wait for that, I am trying to use the BB messenger on Wifi, but its not delivering messages and I cannot receive messages either. Is this normal? I should be able to use this feature over Wifi, right?

When I go to options and register my phone, I get a message saying my "handheld is registered on the wireless network."

I did unlock my phone before leaving the US, and inserted an O2 SIM card when I arrived here.

I can receive and make calls just fine.

You need to wait for the data plan to become activated. Contact the carrier to see if it is active.
