And not just a data plan, a BlackBerry data plan as NJBB stated.

You will have to call your carrier to add it on, BlackBerrys require BIS service or else most of the functions and applications will not work.

I love the title of this thread: "Epic Facebook Failure!" How ironic.

It will cover some apps. However, there are apps that require a BlackBerry data plan. Those apps include BlackBerry Messenger, Facebook, BlackBerry Maps. There are others that require the BB data plan as well.
Take a look at these links for more clarification

Yes you will need a data plan to access the internet.

Which is weird as I can acccess the interenet just fine... so presumably that would mean I would have a data plan? Right?

yes you have a data plan.
But you dont have the Blackberry Unlimited UK Bolt-on.
You need that to use facebook and google maps, and others.

Your not paying for BIS service, BIS is what makes the BlackBerry work at it's fullest. I believe with O2, they make you pay £5 extra for the bolt on. Other carriers don't make you do so, they just switch it to a specific plan meant for that type of phone for usually the same price.

Read this carefully: Based on what i have read in this thread, you have some sort of mobile internet plan that one would get for any other 'dumb' phone for internet service, which explains why you currently access the internet. So yes, you have A data plan (emphasis on the 'A'), but not a BLACKBERRY data plan. The BB data plan allows for Blackberry specific services, such as the BB Facebook and Google apps, and BIS service. What you need to do is sign up for a Blackberry plan and cancel your current internet plan.

I dont understand why you call it unlimited broadband. By defination broadband is internet to your PC; through cable or phone line, to a router, to your PC, and possibly wireless.
If you have the Unlimited WEB Bolt-on; this the data plan.
But you NEED the Unlimited Blackberry UK Bolt-on.
You can just switch then, by phoning O2 and asking them to change it.

My bad!
Heh ok so get this right, I called up 02 customer services today and turns out they haven't even activated my bolt on which is probably why most of my apps don't work. I have the right plans needed it just hadn't been activated yet... Go figures!
Hopefully everything should be working by tommorow!
