Default PocketMac and Entourage woes. Missing Sync better?

Please Login to Remove!

Well, my employer sprung for a 8830WE (exchange for email and contacts) and I like it enough to keep it. I have used Palm devices for years and prefer them still, but things change. I need to sync tasks and notes.

I have the new version of PocketMac. It seems that I do not have admin rights as far as the installer goes, which is wrong. I had to go to my local admin account to install. I think the installer only works for the account in which it is installed.

After that, I log back in to my personal account (domain-based). I try to run the app and find that it does nothing. I have copied the files from
/Users/personal/Library/Application Support/PocketMacSyncManager/
to
/Users/admin/Library/Application Support/PocketMacSyncManager/
without any better results. It seems to work fine in the admin account, but that is just not an acceptable solution. It sometimes allows me to install software, but never syncs my Entourage tasks or notes. It crashes PM every time.

Going to the advanced options doesn't work either. Clicking the advanced button does nothing.

I have spent an hour or two on the phone with support for PocketMac, no luck there. I feel like a beta tester again... at least I am not paying for the privilege.

Is Missing Sync any better?

If you have never been able to sync your employer may have an IT policy preventing you from syncing.

Hi,

As part of its software package, PocketMac must install drivers to allow the Mac to communicate with the BlackBerry. Mac OS X requires administrator-level rights in order to install drivers.

If you are receiving this message, it would suggest that your account does not have these rights. However, you can run the installer from your account, and then have an admin user enter his/her password when the installer prompts for them, I believe.

Hope this helps!

I can install it under my local admin account, but it will not run under my mobile (domain-based) personal account. My mobile account has admin rights, but this installer fails under that account. This is the only software I have used that fails in this way. (I manage a dozen Macs).

Hi,

I'm sorry, but that's above my level of expertise.

However, I would suggest that you contact our support engineers directly at the web page below, so that they can better assist you.

Thank you!
