I have had the Javelin for 2 days now and love it. I am using the Garmin GPS software which is a free download in South Africa.

What I would like to know is whether I have to go to Tools/ Advanced/ GPS/ on the BlackBerry menu and set it to Location Off" every time I don't use the Garmin software and back to "Location On" when I use it again.

I exit the Garmin app completely when done but wondering if it will deplete the battery if I don't switch the GPS on the device to "Location Off" every time?

Or will exiting the Garmin App stop the GPS from looking for satellite signal??

Would anyone know??

You can keep location on in ur options, it doesn't drain battery much....

Just close out garmin completely thats good enough
While gps is on, take advantage of it with gpstracker, in case ur fone disappears from the table, u can track it down urself

Now that app probably burns battery. But awesome incase you lose it.
There's an app that is payware but it only turns on the gps when the BB flags a keyword in an email sent to it.

Anyways, just Menu key and Close apps and they will quit and not run in the background.

Hi Syb24, when you are an MTN (Mobile Network) customer you get the download for free. Just dial the USSD code *123# from your device, choose option one and then option 8. You will get an SMS (text message) with a link to download the3 software.

thanks 101ds for the info but I am not an MTN customer. As I don't life in South Africa I just need to go there for business.
