On most BB's there a option in the Phone setting for "Dial from Home Screen." If you set that to "no", you can use single letter shortcuts to access various Home Screen functions like M=Messages, L=Calendar, D=Memo Pad, etc.

I don't see anythink like that for the 7130. Did I miss something?

I just switched from the 7250 t the 7100G and I miss that option to, but I guess that it is because you have to be able to dial from the home screen, where on the 7250, you could do shortcuts and speed dials from the home screen.

This does not excuse RIM for this silly incosistency- I don't see any reason why the 71XX serries has to have a different paradigm than the 72XX serries as far as "dialing from the home screen" is concerned.
