Default Moving SRP to new server. What about CAL?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

We originally started a BB pilot with a BES 4.0 server. This was running a production SRP so had no expiry date.

Following problems with this server/installation, another server was implemented with BES 4.1. We were provided with a 90 trial licence for this new server.

In both cases, the BES points to another machine for the SQL database.

All users have been moved to the new server and there are about 25 days left on the trial licence.

I've raised a change control to move the SRP across from the old 4.0 server to the new 4.1.

I've been referred to some KB articles e.g. knife edge cut over but this doesn't seem to match what we need to do.

I'm unclear as to whether the CAL also needs to be brought across and if so, how is this done? Anyone got experience of this?

TIA

So the database will contain the trial CAL?

I've looked back at the data I got from the software downloads and only have SRP & CAL info for 4.0 - I have nothing for 4.1.

So, in moving details from the 4.0 server to the 4.1 server we have to move the SRP and CAL to update the BES server and database?

Thanks,

Chris

When you change SRPs all your BBs will no longer be able to send email till they renew encryption keys - It happens INSTANTLY

The Cals are in the Database you can just move them to the new server
In our expereince the server will complain that you dont have enough licenses but it wont stop email flow

Once all the users have been moved stop all the services on the production server so it is diconnected from the RIM relay. Next you need to follow this KB article on the BlackBerry site and remove the temp keys from the new server and replace them with the full production keys:

Livelink - Redirection

Done. No need to reactivate devices or anything!
