Default 5.1.0 - Unknown address error 550-'UUCP bang routing is not permitted'

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

Whenever sending from the BB itself i get a DNR with the message:

The following message to [email address] was not delivered.
The reason for the problem was:
5.1.0 - Unknown address error 550-'UUCP bang routing is not permitted'

This happens with all emails sent from the device to people in the address book.

Thanks

There are reports that if you set the reply-to on your BB address to some exchange or notes servers, the error occurs. It has to do with mail spoofing that some mail servers incorporate. If that's the case, check with your IT/BES admin.

Thumbs up Error 5.1.0 550 Sending Email Problem

This is what I have done for the company I work for...We started getting the problems in Aug until now (Oct)...also Bell Canada is no help at all.

Because of the upgrade from BIS 1.8 to 2.0...they didnt merge the version right...so any email created with version 1.8 will get those problems using version 2.0.

You need to create a new email...if you delete the current blackberry email address...it will not be deleted until 30 days from the RIM servers.

Example:

[email address] < thats for Bell Canada Users

Change it to:

[email address]

Just doing that it works...if any provider tells you that its a spam filter or your service book on the handheld is out of date...HANG UP THE PHONE...

Just making that small change...EVERYTHING is back to normal...

I'm running into the exact same problem, but I'm confused by the example given above i.e. changing [email address] to [email address] doesn't make sense to me. (Is this forum obfuscating email addresses in messages?).

I'd appreciate any further clarification on this.

thanks

To fix that problem if you are on BIS 2.0 - BIS 2.3, on blackberry find service book named WebMail or WebClient and delete it.

Thank you very much - that seems to have worked.

I'd love to know more technical details on what the actual problem was, and why deleting the service book worked. Thanks in advance.

This is service book which is left from BIS 1.8. You can verify it by pushing yourself service books from your BIS account web page- that service book will not be coming back.

Looks like even after upgrade to BIS 2 it was used when you were creating emails. Not knowing BIS from inside out, I would just speculate that using service book from older system, which is BIS 1.8, after upgrade to new system, which is BIS 2, could cause problems.

I can not tell what these problems are and why, but this is the same advise I was giving to other people having same issue and it always worked.
