Default Help With Calender Sync Please

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, new to this and non technical so please forgive me!

Trying to syn my outlook calendar with my BB titanium, sometimes it works, most of the time it comes up with "The operation Terminated Unexpectedly" This always happens at record 285 of 996.

Why does it sync sometimes but not most of the time and what can I do to stop this message and for it to sync succesfully?

Many thanks.

TK.

What is record 285? Possibly corrupt file?

What version of DM are you using? Assuming that you are syncing with Outlook, what version of Outlook do you use?

Have you tried a battery pull on the BB and then a resync?

Are you connecting to the PC via a HUB? BBs do not like HUBs.

Thanks for the responce.

How do i find record 285? If it was corrupt then why would it syn sometimes but not all the time?

DM is 4.5

Outlook is 2003 SP3

Pulled battery several times (only last 1.5 days) so have 2 batts!

USB cable straight from PC to BB

Very frustrating!

Thanks again!

Well doesnt look like anyone can help me on this forum and I cant do the main thing that I bought my BB for so I'm gutted!

Will see if my provider can take it back and I'll go back to a good old fashioned mobile phone!

What version of Outlook, Desktop Manager, and OS are you running on your PC?

oops..

Search your Computer for a file called "ScanPST.exe" once you find that use it to scan your .PST files, to find your .PST files do another search for "*.pst"

after that try to sync again.

Right, found the scan PST program, found the .pst folder. Scanned it, found several problems and it repaired it.

Rebooted the PC to make sure all was ok.

Hooked up the BB, same problem at record 285. "The operation Terminated Unexpectedly"

Pulled up the scan PST program again. Found the pst folder again. Scanned it. Nothing wrong with it.

So I'm still left with the same problem and an outdated calender on my BB! It does work sometimes but it is very random. I would say, 1 in 50 chance of it working. Why does it do it some times but the majority not and always at record 285?

Help much appretiated. I'm pulling my hair out and I dont have much left!!!

Are you able to backup your calendar? Using the Desktop Manager?

This looks like a corrupt calendar entry in your Outlook calendar..

You might want to create a new calendar in Outlook and reset the Desktop Manager to sync with that calendar.

Thanks, but wont that just create a blank calendar? I have 100's off appointments in my existing one and putting them in 1 by 1 is not really an option. No point in backing up and restoring to the new one as that will give me the same problem I think.

Sadly this seems to be a problem for many people myself included. Sync for BB and Outlook is not reliable, and trying to use for example Google sync to their calendar as an alternative just as frustrating.

Seems to me that BB have screwed up on this on as Google also cannot fix their problem.

It seems to be much worse with the latest 4.5 OS.

It is not just an Outlook issue. I have the same thing with Lotus Notes.

Here is how I solved it.

Delete the Intellisync folder (C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Research In Motion\BlackBerry)

Start Desktop Manager
Open Synchronize
Click on Configure/Synchronization
Select Reset configuration
Select Synchronization
Go back to Synchronize and you should work just fine.

have you tried completely removing the dtm from your comp and downloading/reinstalling it? I've seen that error before and if I remember right, that's what I had to do myself.
