I have just got a Blackberry Curve 8900 on a contract which includes free internet acces but not blackberry email. Does this mean i don't get Blackberry messenger because it does not seem to be working..? If i do get blackberry messaging does anyone know how i can get it to work?

The ONLY way to use BlackBerry Messenger is with a true BlackBerry Data Plan. Those partial internet-only or messaging-only won't do.

Do you literally mean I can't use Blackberry messenger if i don't have a 'true Blackberry Data Plan' or are you suggesting that you don't get the best out of a blackberry without that Data plan?

You need a full fledged "Blackberry data plan" in order to use blackberry messenger or pin to pin messaging because it uses RIM's internal network. No blackberry data plan, no connection to the RIM network which means no blackberry messenger or push email.

Lots of folks are using BlackBerrys without a BlackBerry data plan. That's fine, so long as you know what you're getting. But to use BBM, the BlackBerry data plan is a requirement, like bdsguru said.

Thanks A LOT.. My dad surprised me with for my birthday but luckily i can cancel the contract within 30 days. Dads can never do anything right can they haha xD.
